Camp Grace is Back and Better Than Ever!

Camp Grace is back for 2017! We are excited and ready for our 12th year at LTA.  We are pleased to announce the addition of Damien Jenifer (First Choice Basketball) and Cornelius McMurray (Gooseneck Basketball) as coaches.  Their skills and expertise will enhance our camps and take them to the next level.

This year our goal is to make Camp Grace  bigger and better by adding the know-how and proficiency of Damien and Cornelius! They are both well known as up-and-coming community leaders who share our vision and philosophy for Camp Grace by combining the instruction of basketball and leadership. Coach Damien Jenifer will bring his skills and expertise to the high school level. Coach Cornelius McMurray will bring his skills and expertise to the 9-13 year old level.

Camp Grace runs every Saturday from April – October at  8:30am – 12:00pm.  We offer the best fundamental camp at a reasonable price by focusing on leadership, education, accountability and life lessons.

Please Join Coach Grace, Coach Jenifer and Coach McMurray for another great spring and summer of basketball fun! Look forward to seeing you there!

Put a Spring In Your Step – Add Exercise to Your Daily Routine

All physical activity leads to a healthier heart, and lack of activity is one of the major modifiable risk factors for heart disease.  Studies show that even moderate levels of exercise can increase life expectancy and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Some of the benefits of daily physical activity include:

  • Reducing the risk of heart disease by improving blood circulation
  • Keeping weight under control
  • Improving blood cholesterol levels
  • Preventing and managing high blood pressure
  • Boosting energy level
  • Helping to manage stress and release tension

Tips on beginning an exercise program:

  • If you’ve been sedentary for a long time, are overweight, have a high risk of coronary heart disease or some other chronic health problem, see your doctor for a medical evaluation before beginning a physical activity program.
  • Start off slow and don’t overdo it.  If you push yourself too hard in the beginning, you’ll risk burnout.  Instead, start at a reasonable pace and work toward realistic goals.
  • Buddy up and ask a friend or family member to join you.  Involve your spouse, your kids, your neighbors or co-workers in your exercise program.
  • Make exercise a habit.  Add it to your list of other good habits you already practice like brushing your teeth and eating nutritious foods.

This information is consolidated from the American Heart Association’s web site information on fitness and heart health.

LTA Partnered With Peace Of Pizza To Feed The Homeless!

LTA partnered with Peace of Pizza to feed the Baltimore Homeless on Thanksgiving Day 2016!

On Thanksgiving Day 2016, LTA partnered with Peace of Pizza to feed Baltimore homeless.  We were fortunate to have the opportunity to feed over 250 people, provide over 25 cases of water and supply over 30 bags of clothing.  In addition, we were also able to deliver toiletries, toothpaste, ChapStick and crackers.  Over 25 volunteers participated in this rewarding experience. It was heartwarming to have the occasion to positively touch those in need.  Participating in this community service effort warms the heart and benefits everyone involved.

At LTA we strongly believe in helping those in need.  It is our mission to strengthen our community and improve lives by helping and connecting to others.

LTA NEWS – FIRE DAMAGE

logo

To the LTA Community and Concerned LTA Patrons,

Recently many of you have inquired as to why there were so many fire trucks at the gym a few weeks ago. In late September, LTA experienced an electrical fire causing approximately $35,000-$45,000 in damage.  First and most importantly, no one was injured. Additionally, there was no foul play involved. At the time of the fire, there was one employee present in the building. He was able to get the Fire Department dispatched quickly and that helped in reducing the damage.

The origin of the fire appears to have started with one of the electric signs. The sign started smoking, which in turn, activated our sprinkler system.   Fortunately, the sprinkler system came on to control the potential fire damage but unfortunately, the water caused flooding and destruction.

The insurance people have been actively involved the last couple of weeks. The insurance company will continue to be involved along with the Our Restoration Company and First Choice Services, Inc. They will complete the investigation and complete the repairs.  It’s our hope to have everything back to normal by the end of November.

Many of you graciously asked if there was anything you could do to help. As always, there is plenty of work to be done and volunteers are always needed. If you are interested in making a small donation toward the repairs, please send a check to:

Thank you for the community support over the past 12 years. We are facing a new challenge but, it will NOT stop us. We will move forward and continue to do what we do best, Developing Today’s Youth into Tomorrow Leaders.

Sincerely,

Mike, Pat and Tom Grace
